Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About Dogecoin (DOGE)
Dogecoin is an open-source digital currency favored by a global community for its friendly brand that is based on the Doge meme.
-
The network uses proof of work, a way to secure the chain by having computers solve math puzzles, to process new blocks every minute.
-
It features an uncapped supply, meaning new coins are added forever to keep the network running and transaction fees low.
-
Much of its value comes from its large social following rather than complex software features or corporate backing.
What Is Dogecoin
Dogecoin serves as a medium for digital tips and fast payments between users without a central bank. Value moves through the system when users send DOGE to one another or pay for goods at participating stores. Unlike systems with staking, a way to earn rewards by locking up coins, DOGE is primarily put to work as a simple tool for exchange. As the ecosystem grows, its scale depends on more people and shops accepting it for daily use.
What Makes Dogecoin Unique
-
It was the first memecoin, a type of crypto based on an internet joke, which helped it build a unique culture.
-
It uses merged mining, a method that lets miners secure two different networks at the same time, specifically with Scrypt-based cryptocurrencies like Litecoin.
-
The project is run by a decentralized group of volunteers rather than a formal company.
What Can You Use Dogecoin for?
-
Dogecoin can be used to buy physical goods from a growing list of online and retail stores.
-
Historically, Dogecoin was used to tip small amounts of money quickly to creators on social media.
-
Some charities directly accept Dogecoin donations.
How Does Dogecoin Work?
Dogecoin is a fork, or a copy of existing code with changes, of a project called LuckyCoin, which was a fork of Litecoin. It uses the Scrypt algorithm, a specific type of math code used to mine coins, to keep its mining process fast and efficient. Computers on the network reach consensus, a way for everyone to agree on the state of the ledger, every 60 seconds to confirm transactions.
Team Info and Investors
Dogecoin was created in 2013 by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer as a parody of the early crypto market. Today, the Dogecoin Foundation, a non-profit group, helps guide the project along with a core team of volunteer developers. It did not have traditional venture capital investors or a public sale, as it was designed to be a fair and accessible project from the start.
Institutional Adoption

Regulatory Classification: In March 2026, a joint SEC and CFTC framework officially classified Dogecoin as a digital commodity, a type of asset that can be traded like oil or gold.
