Market Cap
Market Cap = Current Price x Circulating Supply
Refers to the total market value of a cryptocurrency’s circulating supply. It is similar to the stock market’s measurement of multiplying price per share by shares readily available in the market (not held & locked by insiders, governments) Read More |

Market Cap / FDV
The proportion of current market capitalization compares to market capitalization when meeting max supply.
The closer the Mkt Cap/FDV to 1, the closer the current market capitalization to its fully diluted valuation and vice versa. Learn more about Mkt Cap/FDV here. |

Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About Caldera (ERA)
Caldera is a modular rollup platform and connectivity infrastructure designed to scale Ethereum horizontally by enabling projects to launch purpose-built blockchains.
- The platform provides Rollups-as-a-Service, allowing developers to deploy customizable rollups with a single click using stacks like Arbitrum, Optimism, and ZKsync.
- Caldera introduces the Metalayer, a unifying infrastructure that facilitates seamless communication, shared liquidity, and asset transfer between fragmented rollup ecosystems.
- The ecosystem supports a network of interconnected chains with significant total value locked and a high volume of unique wallet interactions across various application categories.
What Is Caldera
Caldera addresses the fragmentation of the Ethereum scaling landscape by providing a unified layer for disparate rollups to interact. It allows applications to reclaim dedicated block space without sacrificing the security and decentralization of the Ethereum mainnet. This approach enables the network to reach web-scale performance through horizontal expansion rather than relying on a single, monolithic blockchain.
Value moves through the system as decentralized applications (dApps) and infrastructure providers utilize the Metalayer to bridge liquidity and data across different rollup frameworks. By abstracting the technical complexities of chain deployment, the platform fosters an environment where innovation and creativity can thrive without the overhead of maintaining a dedicated blockchain engineering team.
The ERA token is put to work through staking by validator nodes that secure the Metalayer and coordinate cross-chain message passing. It is also utilized to pay for protocol service fees associated with cross-chain interactions and data propagation. As the ecosystem grows, the Metalayer scales by incorporating more subnetworks and guardian nodes, increasing the network's capacity for fast finality and secure communication.
What Makes Caldera Unique
- Framework Agnostic: Unlike single-stack solutions, Caldera supports multiple rollup frameworks including Optimistic and Zero Knowledge stacks from major providers.
- Metalayer Architecture: The introduction of a dedicated coordination layer specifically for rollups provides a standardized communication protocol similar to the internet's foundational networking standards.
- One-Click Deployment: The platform abstracts the technical complexity of blockchain engineering, allowing teams to launch production-ready networks with minimal development effort.
What Can You Use Caldera for?
- Chain Deployment: Developers can use the platform to launch specialized blockchains for gaming, decentralized finance, or artificial intelligence applications with customized parameters.
- Cross-Chain Communication: Users and protocols can utilize the Metalayer's message-passing system to execute calls and read data across different rollup environments.
- Network Security: Stakeholders can participate as guardian nodes to provide additional security layers and community validation for individual rollups.
- Governance: Token holders can participate in the Caldera DAO to vote on protocol upgrades, treasury management, and the election of security council members.
How Does Caldera Work?
The technical core of Caldera consists of the Metalayer, which features a message-passing system and a fast finality system that leverages a decentralized validator network. This infrastructure enables contracts to interact with other chains by reading data, executing calls, and sending transactions across the ecosystem.
The message-passing system utilizes a decentralized validator network to relay messages from a source chain to a destination chain. These validators must meet a signing threshold to ensure that no single party can unilaterally censor or relay false messages. This system is designed to eventually incorporate an intents-based architecture to improve efficiency while maintaining decentralization.
In addition to relaying messages, the network posts aggregate hashes of state roots from all chains in the Metalayer. This allows users on one chain to submit a Merkle proof of state for any other chain in the system, enabling cross-chain state access. Users pay protocol service fees in ERA for these interactions, which helps maintain the coordination engine's economic stability.
Team Info and Investors
Caldera was developed by Constellation Labs, the core contributors behind the platform's initial launch and maintenance. The project is governed by the Caldera DAO, which oversees protocol upgrades and works alongside the Caldera Foundation, a Cayman Islands entity. The platform is backed by prominent venture capital firms including Founders Fund, Dragonfly, Sequoia Capital, and Ethereal Ventures across multiple funding rounds.
