Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About Solana (SOL)
Solana is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain built for mass adoption, offering a fast and low-cost environment for decentralized applications.
-
It utilizes a unique timestamping mechanism to process thousands of transactions per second with sub-second finality — the time it takes for a transaction to be fully confirmed and irreversible.
-
Users pay minimal fees, often costing a fraction of a penny, making the network accessible for frequent use and micro-transactions.
-
The platform supports a vast ecosystem of tools ranging from decentralized finance to digital collectibles and real-world assets.
What Is Solana
Solana is a decentralized computing platform designed to scale globally without the need for complex layers or sharding — a method that splits the network into pieces to process more data. Value moves through the system via its native token, SOL, which acts as the "gas" or compute power required to execute transactions. The token is put to work through staking, where users lock up their assets to help validators secure the network in exchange for rewards. As the ecosystem grows, demand for SOL increases to cover transaction fees and governance — the process where token holders vote on changes to the system.
What Makes Solana Unique
-
Proof of History: This is a decentralized clock that creates a verifiable record of when events happen, allowing the network to process data much faster without constant node communication.
-
Single-Layer Scaling: Solana maintains a single, unified ledger to avoid the liquidity fragmentation often found in multi-layer or modular systems.
-
Parallel Execution: The network uses the Sealevel engine, which allows many smart contracts — automated digital agreements — to run at the exact same time.
-
Gulf Stream: A protocol that forwards transactions to validators before the previous block is finished, reducing confirmation times and memory pressure.
What Can You Use Solana for?
-
Launchpads: Solana's high speed, scalability, and low transaction costs make it one of the most popular chains for launchpads including Pump.fun and LetsBONK.fun.
-
Staking: Holders delegate tokens to validators to earn a yield while securing the underlying blockchain infrastructure.
-
Decentralized Finance (DeFi): Users trade, lend, or borrow assets through automated DeFi applications like Jupiter or Raydium.
-
Digital Collectibles: The network hosts a large market for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are unique digital assets representing art, media, or identity.
-
DePIN: Solana powers projects in the Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks space, such as Helium, which use tokens to incentivize the rollout of real-world hardware.
How Does Solana Work?
Solana operates on a Proof of Stake model combined with a innovation called Proof of History (PoH). In traditional blockchains, nodes must talk back and forth to agree on what time a transaction occurred, creating bottlenecks. Solana eliminates this by having a built-in "clock" that creates a digital proof of the passage of time. Because every node can trust this internal timeline, the network can organize transactions and process them in parallel—running multiple tasks at once across CPU cores—rather than processing them in a single file line.
Team Info and Investors
Solana was founded in 2017 by Anatoly Yakovenko, a former engineer at Qualcomm and Dropbox, who authored the original whitepaper. He was joined by Greg Fitzgerald, Raj Gokal, and Stephen Akridge to form Solana Labs. The project is supported by the Solana Foundation, a non-profit based in Switzerland. Major institutional investors include Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Polychain Capital, Multicoin Capital, and Jump Crypto.
Recent Institutional Adoption
-
Spot Solana ETFs: Following the launch of Solana Spot ETFs in late 2025, major financial institutions have begun disclosing exposure. As of early 2026, issuers such as Bitwise (BSOL) and Fidelity (FSOL) have seen significant inflows, with total Solana ETF assets surpassing $1 billion. Morgan Stanley has also entered the space by filing for its own Solana Trust.
-
Corporate Treasury Strategy: Forward Industries (NASDAQ: FORD) has transitioned into a Solana-focused treasury company, holding over 6.9 million SOL (valued at just under $1 billion). To support this strategy, the firm launched a $1 billion share repurchase program and now operates its own validator node on the network.
-
Public Equity Tokenization: In September 2025, Galaxy Digital partnered with Superstate to tokenize its SEC-registered Class A Common Stock directly on the Solana blockchain. This marks the first time a major public company has moved its legal equity records onto a public ledger for near-instant settlement.
