About Staked uWatt (c-uWatt)
Staked uWatt is a yield-bearing token from Suno, a protocol that brings real-world solar energy assets on-chain. Holding c-uWatt gives you a share of income generated by solar power plants already in operation.
How it works: You deposit uWatt, Suno's dollar-denominated token, and receive c-uWatt in return. As yield comes in, each c-uWatt becomes redeemable for more uWatt. The number of tokens in your wallet stays the same, but each one is worth more over time. There are no rewards to claim and nothing to restake, because earnings compound automatically.
Where the yield comes from: Suno's Reserve earns revenue from operating solar projects and from its liquid investments. Part of that income is distributed to c-uWatt holders, so the value of each c-uWatt rises as more revenue is paid out. The rest is retained in the Reserve, which keeps the protocol overcollateralized. Payouts are released gradually rather than all at once. The yield is variable and depends on how the projects and investments perform.
Technical details: c-uWatt is an ERC-4626 vault share issued on Ethereum mainnet. Staking and transferring c-uWatt do not require an on-chain KYC check. Redeeming uWatt through Suno's Desk requires verification and is subject to fees, available liquidity, and daily limits. Suno's eligibility terms apply.
What is Suno?
Suno is an on-chain energy finance protocol that connects stablecoin capital with operating solar infrastructure in Latin America. It directs capital from retail and institutional depositors into solar generation projects, starting in Colombia with expansion planned into markets such as Ecuador and Brazil, and passes through the cash flows those plants generate by selling electricity. Depositors are not exposed to a single project. They gain exposure to a diversified portfolio of operating plants, some of which have been producing energy for around six years.
Value moves through the system as depositors provide USDC to mint uWatt. uWatt is a digital asset backed by The Reserve, which holds the cash-flow rights of operating solar projects alongside a liquid sleeve of stablecoins and tokenized treasuries that funds redemptions. uWatt mints and redeems at min($1, NAV), and the Reserve targets 1.15x over-collateralization. Holders who deposit uWatt into Suno's ERC-4626 vault receive c-uWatt, which accrues the portfolio's energy yield through a rising exchange rate. New projects are financed through pWatt while in development. Once a project is operational, it enters The Reserve and adds to the backing behind uWatt. As Latin America's solar buildout accelerates and more generation capacity needs long-term capital, The Reserve grows, and so does Suno's role as a specialized financing layer for renewable energy.
What makes Staked uWatt unique?
c-uWatt gives users access to a kind of yield that is hard to find on-chain: income from real solar power plants.
Real-world income: c-uWatt's yield comes from electricity generated and sold by solar plants already in operation, along with returns from the Reserve's liquid investments. This income depends on how much electricity the plants produce and sell, not on trading volume or borrowing demand, so it moves for different reasons than most DeFi yields.
Paid from cash actually received: Rewards are distributed only after the Reserve has been paid. Nothing is paid out based on expected income, so what holders earn reflects real cash coming in.
Built to protect the backing: Income is split between holders and the Reserve. When the Reserve's backing is weaker, more income is retained and less is distributed. This puts the protocol's financial health ahead of short-term yield. Transparent assets: Suno publishes valuations of the solar projects behind the token, so holders can see what they are exposed to.
Technical details: As an ERC-4626 vault share, c-uWatt is simple to hold and integrate: yield builds up in each share's uWatt redemption value, with no balance changes or manual claims. Suno's price oracle combines that exchange rate with uWatt's backing-adjusted reference price, so integrators such as lending markets can account for any drop in backing below $1 per uWatt.
What can you use Staked uWatt (c-uWatt) for?
Earning income: Holding c-uWatt earns you a share of the income from Suno's solar portfolio. The value of each c-uWatt grows as revenue is distributed, and there is nothing to claim.
Trading and providing liquidity: c-uWatt can be traded against USDC on Curve and other supported pools. Holders can add liquidity to these pools to earn trading fees, plus any incentive rewards on offer.
Unstaking: Holders can swap c-uWatt back into uWatt at the vault's current rate, with no lockup period. Converting uWatt into USDC through Suno's Desk is a separate step that requires verification and is subject to fees, available liquidity, and daily limits.
Using it on other networks: c-uWatt can be moved from Ethereum to other supported networks, where it is held as xc-uWatt. Building with it in DeFi: c-uWatt follows the ERC-4626 vault standard and has an on-chain price oracle, so it can be plugged into compatible vaults and structured products. Use as collateral in lending markets is planned once markets integrate it.
