Market Cap
Market Cap = Current Price x Circulating Supply
Refers to the total market value of a cryptocurrency’s circulating supply. It is similar to the stock market’s measurement of multiplying price per share by shares readily available in the market (not held & locked by insiders, governments) Read More |

Market Cap / FDV
The proportion of current market capitalization compares to market capitalization when meeting max supply.
The closer the Mkt Cap/FDV to 1, the closer the current market capitalization to its fully diluted valuation and vice versa. Learn more about Mkt Cap/FDV here. |

Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About Monad
Monad is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain that processes 10,000 transactions per second with near-zero fees while maintaining complete compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
-
Monad achieves breakthrough performance by processing multiple transactions simultaneously, making it 100 to 1000 times faster than competing blockchains.
-
The blockchain maintains full EVM bytecode compatibility, allowing developers to deploy existing Ethereum applications without any code modifications.
-
Monad operates on consumer-grade hardware with low requirements, creating a clear path to scalable decentralization across the network.
What Is Monad?
Monad addresses the fundamental tension between decentralization and scalability that has limited blockchain adoption, delivering high performance without compromising on security or decentralization.
By achieving 10,000 transactions per second with 0.4-second block times and 800ms finality, Monad creates the infrastructure needed for complex applications that require high-frequency activity, while near-zero gas fees remove cost barriers that have prevented mainstream adoption of blockchain technology.
The platform's complete EVM compatibility means developers can immediately tap into Ethereum's established ecosystem of tools, libraries, and applications while gaining massive performance improvements.
Key Differentiators of Monad
-
MonadBFT consensus mechanism: A custom consensus algorithm optimized for high performance, enabling faster block finalization than traditional methods.
-
Parallel execution architecture: Monad processes multiple transactions at the same time rather than one after another, dramatically increasing speed while ensuring all results are accurate.
-
MonadDB custom database: A purpose-built database designed specifically for blockchain needs, storing data efficiently to reduce the computing power and memory required to run a node.
-
Asynchronous execution model: The network can agree on the order of transactions separately from actually processing them, allowing more time for execution and enabling better scaling.
-
Low hardware requirements: Nodes can run on regular consumer computers rather than expensive specialized equipment, making it easier and cheaper for more people to participate in securing the network.
What Can You Use Monad for?
-
High-frequency trading applications: The platform supports trading activity comparable to major stock exchanges like Nasdaq or CME, processing hundreds of millions of transactions daily.
-
Gaming and interactive applications: Fast transaction speeds and near-zero fees enable complex gaming experiences and real-time interactive applications previously impossible on blockchain.
-
Decentralized finance protocols: Developers can build sophisticated DeFi applications that require high throughput and low latency for optimal user experience.
-
Migrating Ethereum applications: Any application built for Ethereum or other EVM-compatible chains can be deployed on Monad without code changes to benefit from improved performance.
How Does Monad Work?
Monad achieves its high performance through a combination of technical innovations working together. The blockchain uses MonadBFT, a consensus mechanism that allows validators to agree on blocks quickly and reliably. This consensus layer works alongside RaptorCast, which efficiently transmits block data across the network.
The core innovation lies in how Monad handles transaction processing. Instead of waiting for one transaction to complete before starting the next, the system processes many transactions in parallel. It does this optimistically, assuming transactions won't conflict, then verifies the results afterward. If conflicts arise, the system automatically reorders and reprocesses the affected transactions. This approach dramatically increases throughput while maintaining accuracy.
Monad also separates the agreement process from the execution process. Validators first agree on which transactions to include and in what order. Once that's settled, the network has more time to actually execute those transactions without slowing down consensus. This pipelining keeps the blockchain moving quickly.
The MonadDB database supports all of this by providing fast access to blockchain state data. The database is optimized specifically for how blockchains store and retrieve information, making the entire system more efficient. Because the hardware requirements remain reasonable, individuals can run nodes on regular computers, supporting decentralization while maintaining high performance.
Monad's Notable Investors and Team
Monad was founded in 2022 by three co-founders with deep technical expertise. Keone Hon serves as CEO and previously spent eight years at Jump Trading, leading high-frequency trading teams before transitioning to Jump Crypto to focus on blockchain research. James Hunsaker, co-founder, also came from Jump Trading where he worked alongside Hon. Eunice Giarta, the third co-founder, previously worked as a researcher at MIT Media Lab and held product leadership roles at Shutterstock and Broadway Technology.
Monad has raised approximately $244 million in total funding. The company raised $19 million in a seed round in February 2023 led by Dragonfly Capital. In April 2024, Monad closed a $225 million Series A round led by Paradigm at a $3 billion valuation. Other notable investors include Electric Capital, Greenoaks, Coinbase Ventures, and angel investors such as Naval Ravikant.
Monad's Tokenomics
The total supply of MON is fixed at 100 billion MON, with an airdrop teased by project.
